Red has a rather interesting relationship with NAB.
Back in the begininning (ie 2006), the Red One was seen as vapourware. Who could make a camera with those specs at that price point? Well - Red could, and did.
Since then, however, their performance at NAB has been less than steller. There have been some announcements with great follow through - like the Motion Mount, the +1 module, etc. There have also been some broken promises - like Dragon upgrades. There they were doing "upgrades" from the show floor, and now we are coming up on one year since we signed up and haven't heard a peep. Then there is the full on vapourware - like the Meizler module that was announced with such fanfare, and then quietly killed off a few weeks ago. And don't get me started on Odemax and Redray.
1. Be more open with your customers. We all know that you can't broadcast everything to your competition, but why have there been so few updates about just about everything? Why was the Meizler canceled? What will replace it? Why not roll over reservations to the new product? If you can't answer the questions at least tell people when you plan on making announcements.
2. Focus on reality, not hype. Announcing Dragon upgrades at NAB 2013 was great. Having an upgrade facility on site made for expectations that you couldn't meet. A lot of expense for a rather embarassing outcome. Dragon is reality, the upgrades were hype.
But hey, what do I know?

Since the very beginning the FKB team has been impressed with Ted's knowledge and enthusiasm. Over the years we have had the great honour of having not only official interviews, but casual conversations as well and earned our respect each and every time.
Thanks Ted, and we wish you all the best. Farewell to the leader of the rebellion and employee number 1.
Couldn't make it to NAB? We have 32 videos up on our Youtube Channel that gives you an idea of what we found interesting on the show floor.
And apparently people agree! Since heading down to NAB our Youtube Channel has received almost 13,000 views - Thanks for watching!
